"Twenty years ago, I arrived in Lubbock, Texas as a permanent resident to work and serve the health care population.
The journey was riddled with challenges from the start: no relatives and friends, places are new, no transportation, and limited funds.
I am blessed to have a few people who help me such as giving me a free ride to buy my groceries or run errands, finding an affordable place to live, navigate the daunting task of securing a bank loan for a car without any credit history, lending me their cars to get my driving exam and assisting me on filing different paper works. Without those people, I would have felt helpless, overwhelmed, and regretted my decision to migrate here in the United States.
Those people have flown to other states. I can’t repay them back, but I can repay them by helping other people who are going through the same situation.
I have offered services to countless immigrants for them to adapt and integrate into the new community. It is during this critical transition that assistance can make all the difference. The impact is profound: empowered immigrants often become active participants in their new environments, contributing their unique perspectives and skills, which enrich the community tapestry.
In facilitating the transition of immigrants, we set a foundation for a thriving, dynamic community. Each act of assistance is an investment in the future, nurturing a culture of kindness that transcends borders and blossoms into a shared human experience. In a world where borders dissolve and cultures meld, the journey of an immigrant stands as both a testament to courage and a call to the community for support."
